This day is the observance of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II who is monarch of 16 countries, the United Kingdom and 15 common wealth realms. Though it is not the actual Birthday of the Queen it is generally marked on the first Monday of June in New Zealand and Queen’s actual birthday is in April which she celebrates with her family. The sovereign’s birthday has been officially celebrated since 1748, It is a tradition that if a British monarch has a birthday that doesn’t fall in the UK summer months, they can have a second official birthday.
