Introduction and origin – President's Day, also known as Washington's Birthday, is a federal holiday observed in the United States on the third Monday of February. President’s day that celebrate all U.S. presidents   specifically George Washington who was born on February 22, the first President of the United States. Sen. Steven Wallace Dorsey of Arkansas was the first one to propose this day as federal holiday and in 1879 president Rutherford B. Hayes signed it into law. Since then it’s called “Washington’s birthday’’ which was only applied to District of Columbia. But in 1885, the celebration expanded to the entire country.
