Introduction and origin –

Australia celebrates their national day on 26 January with a public holiday.  It is official day of Australia. It marks the arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales on that date in 1788, and the raising of the Flag of Great Britain by Captain Arthur Phillip. Australia day eventually became a National public holiday in 1994.Australia Day is a day to reflect, respect and celebrate the Australian spirit. It is about celebrating the values, freedoms and pastimes of the country.

Ways of celebration –

Australians takes part in spectacular firework displays, celebrate the day with food and drink. Australia Day is celebrated with BBQ. Grilled sausages and steaks are always a hit. Friends and family members cook their favorite Aussie dishes. Australians also head out for Public events like, concerts sports, matches and parades. Beach picnic is always an option for Australians to celebrate this day.

How kids celebrate Australia day?

Kids showcase their Aussie love by doing Australia-themed decorations. Crafts are a hit with kiddos, they decorate paper boomerangs, make a mini didgeridoo out of long cardboard tube, design Australian flags. Frisbee is always a centre of attraction for the kids. Singing patriotic songs like National anthem, Down under or True blue is Highlight for the kids on Australia day celebration.
